Linguistic COO / CSMO - Gerry Drew

Gerry has held C-level positions across the IT, Media, Mobile and Digital sectors.

In 1999, Gerry designed and built the sales organisation for World Online UK from scratch. He hired, trained and led B2B teams to generate the highest per-capita revenues across 17 group territories making World Online the fastest growing and largest start-up ISP across Europe. Gerry led the sales function through an over-subscribed IPO and onto acquisition by Tiscali for €5.1 Bn.

Following it's demerger from BT Wireless (Cellnet), Gerry joined O2 as Commercial Director where, in 2002, he built and led 3 start-up sales divisions selling enterprise and SME technology solutions and services. Gerry chaired the UK's first cross network collaboration group to drive mass-volume data services and revenues domestically, and led the UK's premier interactive broadcast and media propositions teams that set the benchmark in audience engagement that continues to define today's prime time and live TV across the Globe.

In 2004 Gerry joined Opera Telecom as Group Head of Special Projects where he managed International enterprise sales teams and initiatives. Gerry launched Opera's start-up operations in Spain and Portugal, awarded the MD positon for both regions. In 2006 Gerry led the change process for Opera's US business: restructuring the board and re-focussing senior management teams and staff, crafting and executing a revised sales strategy, leading cross-functional B2B teams to win enterprise and SME technology solution sales across the banking, utilities, publishing and broadcast media sectors, exceeding Group revenue forecasts and profitability targets. Gerry was awarded promotion to SVP - Americas, with full P&L responsibility across the US, Canada and Latin America operations.

Prior to joining Linguistic, Gerry was Chief Operating Officer for Tanla Mobile where he led the UK B2B sales, creative and operational teams to win mobile billing, media-platform and outsourced, bespoke software development contracts to support a 200-strong developer team based at the company's Hyderabad headquarters. Gerry formed Tanla's Spain and Eire start-up divisions, hiring and training local teams. He also led the company's compliance affairs, published the customer-service charter and mobile marketing guide, and was chief contact with regulatory bodies, and press spokesperson.

Gerry leads Linguistic's digital team and B2B strategic consulting service advising at C level across a variety of industry sectors, with multiple functions including funding, start-up, sales strategy, digital marketing, convergent media, PR and change management. At Linguistic, Gerry is supported by a can-do team of analytical, operational and financial professionals across the UK and Spain who are technically advanced, mobile and media-"savvy" with a can-do attitude and hunger for winning and delivering a relentless and compelling customer experience.
